Current Train Wreck to be Future Biscuit!
Current Mount Pleasant Train Wreck reliever Brad Boxberger will be making a start with the Montgomery Biscuits on Wednesday. Currently with an ERA of 0.00 and 6 K's through 5.1 innings of relief with the Train Wreck, we'll see if he can do well as a starting pitcher in the minors, hopefully adding the sacred "SP, RP" to his card in the future.
Speaking of which, do you think he even knows what Strat is? And do you think he's ever autographed a Strat-O-Matic card before? All these dire questions will be answered Wednesday!

I'm guessing he does not know what Strat is. I went to a luncheon one time in the late 90's where Kirk Gibson was the speaker, and I got him to autograph his 1993 Tiger Strato card for me. When I handed it to him with the pen, he got this confused look on his face as he went to sign. Scrunched up nose, narrowing of the eyes....I can see the wheels turning in his head "What the hell IS this?" But anyway, despite that embarrassment, I ended up getting it laminated, and it's a pretty sweet possession. Give us an update on the Boxberger signing!
ReplyDeleteWhere did he end up signing on the card? I've been debating should he just write it across the middle? On the back? By his name? Not really any good spots.
ReplyDeleteHe signed on the basic side of the card, with the stats. His signature basically took up the whole side of the card. :) Now that I look at the card, it was his 1995 card, which would have been his last one (and not his best one, unfortunately -- .260 average, 9 homers in just 227 AB. Still had 9 steals though!)
ReplyDeleteUpdate: Boxerberger has the personality of a box and doesn't sign autographs. He also balked in his second appearance... I'm probably going to cut him after this season.
ReplyDeleteWhat a DICK!! Anybody who balks at giving autographs OR balks on the mound is a complete A-Hole. I would cut him too.
