Two Divisions Clinched Today!

Only played 65 games so far and have
already clinched another title!
Phantoms add another title belt!
Pennant races be damned, two divisions were clinched today as the Boston Bobcats clinched the Del Taco Division and Pittsburgh locked up the Sonic.
Congratulations to Andy and Dave!!! All eyes turn now to the battle in the Taco Bell, where Toronto and Philly are battling it out, with Monterrey on the edge of contention

Former Butcher GM on the move, inks deal with Single-A Fort Wayne TinCaps!

PJ Carr is getting ready to start his new gig in January, working in Fort Wayne, IN for the mighty TinCaps!  He  will be working in Marketing, Community Relations, and Promotions.  This team has been racking up the awards this month, including best team, best ballpark, and yes, best dessert!!!  Possible league roadtrip in the summer if anyone is interested.  Much closer than Johnson City, TN  :-)

2014 Minor League Team of the Year... Fort Wayne TinCaps!

Best New Food Item (yum!)

The Butchers salute new AL Cy Young Winner Corey Kluber!

Kansas City has NEVER had the reigning Cy Young Award winner in their 23 years of existence!  We look forward to Mr. Kluber's card for next year (much as we look forward to EVERYTHING next year since this year is so wretched!)
Kluber was obtained in a Draft Day trade for Victor Martinez.  Didn't see either player having such great years at that time.

Lav Vegas, NV - We have learned that Fremont Chris Davis ate all the available Adderall in the Las Vegas area the first two months of the season.

Davis began 2013 on a phenomenal run, hitting 16 home runs in the Fremont's first 29 games. Davis has cooled since hitting just one long ball in his last 110 at bats. Around the time of Davis' power decline reports of strange behavior came in through out Clark County. Test scores and late night pizza deliveries plunged at the University of Nevada - Las Vegas. Reports of narcoleptics falling asleep in odd locations were also on the rise.

When reached for comment, Davis denied allegations saying, "I deny taking any sort of performance enhancing, hey, look at the squirrel."

Fremont management has contacted Shire plc, manufacturer of Adderall, for an emergency shipment.

No playing games? No problem, join the Slow Roll

Oooh scary!
Even Barry comes out to ride.
Who needs to play Strat? Maybe Bill to make up games, but not Jimmy. Jimmy found 3000+ new people to hang out with and bike around the city of Detroit. Look up the Slow Roll online or catch the Apple commercial during games. The Slow Roll meets every Monday night at different locations (usually a bar although most people bring a few to roll with) each week. See sweet sights like homeless people, ruin porn, neighborhoods you would never go into (even if you were in a car) and maybe (like last night) come across some Superman vs Batman filming or shock the hell out of casino patrons as a few thousand riders roll past ringing bells and tooting horns. Also you can enjoy holding up Tiger game traffic with your fellow riders.

Mmmmm graffiti and overgrowth.

That's how we roll.

Moniker Madness!

If you are looking for a few chuckles, take a look at this Minor League Moniker Madness contest to choose the best player name in all of the minors.

Here's some of the previous winners of this contest...

Las Vegas - Fremont owner Chuck today sent catcher Tyler Flowers to the Minnesota Men for reliever Mariano Rivera. After mastering the principles set forth with Paul Krugman's Nobel Prize winning work on New Trade theory, depicted below....

Seriously, this won a Nobel Prize
...the 'Monts were able to turn their excess catcher capacity; the dotted curve below line 0,5 (obviously) into needed potential right handed relief output; at a minimum shown here by K, and hopefully, eventually some point above K on the curved line.

Chuck said, while he does not foresee more trade before the league deadline, he advised that the rest of the league has his phone number and that interesting trades would be considered.

Some highlights of PJ Carr's internship with the Johnson City Cardinals

My son's summer internship is going great, he is learning a lot and having a fantastic time down in Johnson City, TN.   He gets to do a bit of everything, including game day promotions like Vampire Night, Hot Dog Eating contests, and races with the kids.  All while sporting the coveted Stan "The Man" jersey  :-)

Count Chocula, recipient of the Vampire
Of The Year award
He's given me plenty of scoop on the players, but since this is a St. Louis farm team, I have to hope some of these guys get traded to the AL one day.

For anyone with a REALLY slow Saturday night tomorrow, you can listen to him broadcast his very first game as the JC Cardinals take on the Greenville Astros.  I haven't even heard him yet and I know he is better than Jim Price. Game time is 6:00 PM.  You can click on the site below to listen live..

Welcome to the NEW home of the Friendship League

Sorry for the technical issues, but the old blog is dead, long live this new blog!  Bookmark this and come back frequently.  Works the same as the old one.  There is a new entry box on the lower right-hand side that lets you enter your email address and you will be notified when a new entry is posted.  That was something a few people asked for at the draft.

Still have a few more links to add and correct, so this will continue to evolve, but we should be back in business.
